When
I drove by the site on the way home from work today there was evidence that the
plumbers had been on site today to lay the pipework for the water and sewerage
connections.
There
were also 2 mountains of Polystyrene foam blocks delivered and stacked on site
for forthcoming use with the foundation work when the cement slab is
laid. The Polystrene blocks are materials commonly used for building
single level and multi-level house walls and retaining walls, void formers for
concrete slabs and hydronic underfloor insulation for heating and cooling
purposes. This material is apparently environmentally friendly,
recyclable and highly energy efficient. In our case, it's primarily being
used to fill the void spaces beneath our concrete slab (which, hopefully, is
scheduled to be laid down next Monday, 28 April 2014).
Here's
a photo of the site taken this afternoon that shows the status of the pipework completed
today by the plumbers and one of the two mountains of Polystyrene foam blocks
that were delivered to the site today.
