Private power pole installed

Wednesday 18 June 2014

A private power pole was installed in the eastern corner of our front yard today.  An electrical supply cable from the adjacent mains power pole will connect to our private power pole.  That electrical supply cable will then travel down the interior of the private power pole and will connect underground directly to the new home.

In addition to the mains electricity power supply we are planning on installing rooftop photovoltaic solar panels, sufficient enough to be able to generate about 5kW of our own solar energy.  That's going to be about 20 rooftop solar panels.  The rooftop solar panels will be installed post construction at our own expense.  The excess electricity that we’ve generated will then be fed back into the power grid.  We're really impressed with a great Aussie company called, Energy Matters (their website address is: www.energymatters.com.au). We’ll be sourcing German-made solar panels and Austrian-made inverters for a very reasonable cost through Energy Matters.  More on that later.

McDonald Jones Homes will be including and installing a gas-boosted Solar Hot Water System during construction for us (our option and an additional cost).

There’s no photos today.  I couldn’t see the sense in getting a photo of a steel pole.
