The bricks were being delivered off the back of a big Austral Bricks truck when I drove past the construction site at midday today.
There was a timely newspaper article printed in the Sydney Morning Herald on Wednesday 11 June 2014. The article referred to problems affecting the local construction industry due to a serious shortage of available Brick Layers and the possible need to import foreign workers/brick layers on 457 Visas to overcome the shortage. So those problems cited by McDonald Jones Homes appear to be affecting the entire local construction industry right now.
Our Site Supervisor advised me about 3 weeks ago that McDonald Jones Homes was encountering problems and a likely 3 week delay with rostering the Brick Layers for our construction site. He also told me that they would not have the bricks delivered until the Brickies had been rostered to start work. So we're hoping this means the Brickies will start laying our bricks soon now.
The Site Supervisor previously told me that we'll be invited to view and inspect the bricks after they've been delivered and before the brick-laying commences. We can't wait for that to happen and we're hoping the bricks are going to look like the ones we really want.
Here's some photos that I took today which show the Gunmetal Blue-coloured Bricks that were delivered to the site today by Austral Bricks.

The photo below shows the bricks that we saw on display last August and which we've selected. Fingers crossed, the Gunmetal Blue bricks that have been delivered will be the same as, or similar to, these ones.
