Our McDonald Jones Home's Slab Supervisor kindly telephoned yesterday and introduced himself. He sounds like a very nice guy. Arrangements were made to meet him on site this afternoon and Peter attended because I had a scheduled conference to attend in Sydney City/CBD for work.
Pete met the Slab Supervisor at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. The Slab Supervisor showed Pete the deep holes that had been dug for the pouring of concrete to create the concrete piers upon which our concrete slab will be subsequently laid. The Slab Supervisor explained that an additional 4 to 5 concrete piers are required. Our Consolidated Tender from McDonald Jones Homes quotes additional piers, if required, will be charged at the amount of $80.00 per lineal metre.
Pete was surprised with the amount of work that has already been done by McDonald Jones Homes for the site preparation work and excavation etc. He was also surprised at how big the dimensions for the new home look as indicated by the site preparations. There will be approximately 10 tonnes of excess spoil from the excavations that we'll need to get removed from the site in due course. The Slab Supervisor can make arrangements for that excess spoil to be removed by truck for us (at an additional cost of approximately $300.00).
We've had
some lovely sunny, Autumn days this week and it was a very warm 27⁰C here today. All being well, and if there's no rain to delay things, the Slab Supervisor anticipates the plumbers will lay the pipework for the sewerage and plumbing shortly and the concrete slab will be laid down on Monday 28 April 2014. The Blue Scope Steel framework for the new home should be erected on Tuesday 13 May 2014.
It really does feel like things are happening at long last. We're so excited to see things progressing nicely.
