I received an SMS text message from McDonald Jones Homes on Tuesday 5 August 2014 advising me that they are almost at the stage of commencing the interior lining work (erecting the Gyprock). The message asked me to phone the Site Supervisor to confirm the arrangements for our next onsite visit to the construction site. I phoned the Site Supervisor and left a message for him to call me back.
When the Site Supervisor promptly phoned me back yesterday he advised the following status:
1. the electrical wiring work has now been completed;
2. the insulation (R2.0 wall insulation Batts and R3.0 ceiling insulation Batts) has been installed;
3. the Private Certifying Authority / Agent has now certified and passed the standard of work as completed to date;
4. the Carpenters would return to the Site on Wednesday 6 August 2014 to complete the last of the work on installing the Eaves;
5. all being well, the Gyprocking work is due to commence next week (that's the interior walls and ceilings); and
6. the Site Supervisor would like to meet Pete and I onsite at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday morning 7 August 2014, to inspect the work as completed to date! (Yippee!!!!!)
Needless to say that Pete and I are so excited! We'll be there with bells on to meet the Site Supervisor at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow morning to visit the Construction Site and inspect the home accompanied by the Site Supervisor. We're hoping to take some more great photos tomorrow whilst on site.
When I drove by the home at midday today (Wednesday 6 August 2014) the Carpenters had already been there, completed the work on the Eaves and had left and locked-up the Site for the day. I also noticed that the scaffolding had been removed and that Blue Porta Loo (the portable toilet for the builders' / tradies' use) had been relocated to the far right side of the property, now giving full and unobstructed views of the front of the new home (fantastic for taking even better photos now with my Samsung Android Smartphone!). The rooftop safety scaffolding hasn't been removed just yet.
We're very pleased and satisfied with McDonald Jones Homes and we're so glad that they are building our new home for us. Our Site Supervisor is a very nice and easy-going guy to deal with. We're very happy.
Here's some photos that I took just after midday today from outside the front security fencing that show the status of work as at today.
