Post construction work and purchases

Monday 1 December 2014

Pete and I are both on Annual Leave right now.  Now that the stress from our full time jobs is behind us, we can now concentrate on getting excited about having our lovely new McDonald Jones Home to move into within the next couple of weeks.  Each day that passes is one day closer now.  Since getting the keys last week, we've been spending more time at the new home each day and we're falling in love with it more and more each day.  It is such a lovely new home and we can't believe it's now ours!

Here's some photos that Pete took while we were up at the new home yesterday (Sunday 30 November 2014).

Above and below - That's me getting acquainted with the Newbury 1700mm Island Bathtub.   It's a lovely, deep and comfortable bathtub.  It will be so much better when our hot water service is connected!

Just love that large bathroom vanity mirror that extends right across the bathtub.  It makes the bathroom appear so much bigger.

Hmmnnn... some of Pete's handy work.  Some of the nick-nacks have started to make an appearance in the Home Theatre room before the internal Plantation Shutters are installed.

We had some afternoon thunderstorms while we we at the house yesterday.  Pete took the above photo at the time, which shows the harvesting of our rooftop rainwater into our 4,500 litre rainwater tank.  All the rooftop gutters and downpipes feed the fresh rainwater into the tank.  An electrical pump is connected to the rainwater tank. Recycled fresh rainwater from that tank then gets pumped throughout the house and operates the toilets, washing machine and garden taps for our use.  This is in addition, and supplementary to, our mains water connection.

Today is the first day of Summer in Australia.  The news bulletin tonight said that New South Wales had the hottest Spring and the hottest November on record.  Every week, month and year nowadays is a "new record" as a direct consequence of our changing climatic patterns and Climate Change in general.  We're so glad that we got the ActronAir ESP Plus Air-Conditioning system installed.  We won't have to suffer through an unbearably hot summer in Guildford ever again now.

We went shopping today and bought ourselves a lovely new "masonry" letterbox in compliance with Holroyd City Council's [construction] DA Approval.  It's made of Blue Stone, has a Slate Top, and can easily accommodate A4 Business-sized Envelopes.  The letterboxes are made locally by a Stone Mason in Revesby, Sydney,  New South Wales, Australia.  You can find their website at the following Link:

Here's some photos of our new letterbox (which will be installed after the concrete driveway has been laid).

  1. That's a fine-looking place you've got there. It seems that you've got a lot of the essentials, such as the letter boxes, the bathtubs and of course the new A/C unit, which can give such a relief from insufferable hostile weathers, especially in the summer. Good for you! Thanks for sharing that! All the best!
