Photographs of the interior

Wednesday 8 October 2014

Luckily, I was travelling home from work much earlier than usual today.  Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time (AEDST) commenced in New South Wales on Sunday 5 October 2014.  There was still plenty of late afternoon sunshine when I drove by the construction site on the way home.  Earlier today, plumbers and gas fitters were on site and they installed the new meter for our Mains Gas supply.  When I saw them early this morning, they were digging trenches but I don't know if that was for the laying of the new Gas supply lines or maybe the sewerage lines, or both?  By the end of the day, a new Gas Meter had been installed adjacent to our 4,500 litre rainwater tank.

When I got to the construction site this afternoon, the workers had finished and left for the day, but the front security fence and gate were wide open!  I thought I should investigate to see if, perhaps, any unauthorised intruders might have been on site.  I was hoping that perhaps our Crimsafe security screen doors had been installed on the glass sliding doors but they haven't yet.  Nobody was there when I checked.  However, when I checked the back of the house, I found the sliding glass door onto the rear Alfresco Cabana had been closed, but it wasn't locked!  I couldn't believe it!  I thought I should check inside to ensure no intruders were there.  No one was there.  I sent an immediate SMS Text Message to the Site Supervisor to advise him about the site being left open and I'll be phoning him tomorrow to complain about that.

We are sincerely grateful because McDonald Jones Homes has built us such a lovely new home to live in.

While I was checking the place I also took the following photos that show the current status of the work that's been completed inside the house.

Gourmet Kitchen

It's a pity that the true colours don't seem to reproduce very well on the computer screen and unfortunately these photos do not do justice for this lovely looking glass splashback.  Plus, the photos of the interior appear to show dirty dark tinges particularly around the ceilings and some of the cupboard doors after Google's automatic enhancement of the photos.  All the internal ceilings are, in fact, a lovely clean white colour.

These photos show the glass splashback that was installed on Thursday 2 October 2014, behind the bench top along the kitchen wall.  In these photos the glass splashback has taken on a mirror-like appearance due to all the natural light that was pouring in the opposite windows.  We chose a deep Burgundy / Red Wine-coloured glass splashback called, Resene Jumpstart Starphire Glass.

The 40mm thick kitchen benchtops are reconstituted stone and quartz, specifically, Caesarstone Night Sky 6100 (they're still quite dusty and awaiting cleaning).

Our kitchen cupboards and drawers are finished in a 2-pak Polyurethane Classic 2mm finish and the colour is called Pumice high gloss.  We paid an additional upgrade for soft-closing kitchen drawers.

The overhead kitchen cupboards have push-to-open doors and no door handles are necessary.  LED downlights have been installed within the overhead kitchen cupboards.

The SMEG Stainless Steel ducted Rangehood will be installed in the centre of the glass splashback, directly above the SMEG 900mm Gas Cooktop (which is yet to be installed).

A SMEG underbench electric oven will be installed in due course.

The photo below shows the bank of soft-closing drawers that have been installed at the left side of the kitchen sink.  A SMEG Dishwasher will be installed in the space next to those drawers.  The SMEG Microwave oven will be installed in the space at the right side.

We were offered the option of an underbench kitchen sink but we preferred the more traditional looking overbench kitchen sink.

The door that opens to the Walk In Pantry is at the left rear of this photograph and the refrigerator space is directly next to that.

The photo below shows the ample space and shelving inside the Walk In Pantry.

Open plan Dining and Family area

The photos below show the open-plan dining and family areas directly opposite the kitchen.  The Gerflor Walnutt-coloured flooring has been laid and needs a good clean in due course.  I'm extremely happy with the Gerflor flooring.  It's lived-up to its reputation and it really looks so much like a hard wooden timber floor!

Master Suite and Ensuite Bathroom

The photo below was taken from the Master Bedroom Suite looking back towards the front of the house.

The photo below shows the Master Suite's ensuite bathroom.  The Charcoal-coloured ceramic floor tiles in the ensuite bathroom are a Solna Nero 300mm x 300mm Straight LayThe wall tiles are a similar Solna Nero 300mm x 600mm rectangular Horizontal wall tile.  The tiles have been laid from floor to ceiling height.

The benchtop on the vanity cupboards is a 20mm thick Caesarstone Night Sky 6100 (the same as in the kitchen).

The vanity cupboards have a 2-pak Polyurethane Classic 2mm finish in Dawn Grey Gloss

The square-shaped vanity basin is a white Manooga 70mm bowl with a pop-up chrome plug.

The tapware for the Manooga bowl is a Mili Edge Mixer.

The wall to wall shower screen door is an Aqua Deluxe (Semi-Frameless) Pivot Door.

The shower has a Dorf Jovian shower rail with a large square-shaped overhead outlet/rose.

The photo below shows the main bathroom including the Newbury 1700mm Island Bathtub.

We selected a frameless vanity mirror that also extends over the bathtub.
